About Time Seventeen

We give risk a price. We create state prices for tail events.

The world contains a large class of risks that determine where capital flows yet have no price today. Global supply chains are being reconfigured, while the geopolitical discount rates that inform consequential decisions remain difficult to quantify. Time Seventeen is building tradable synthetic indices and term structures for these risks.

Time Seventeen is infrastructure for geopolitical risk and catastrophe risk. We give risk a price. We create state prices for tail events. Our ambition is to turn fragmented judgments about individual events into continuous risk prices, then bring those prices into institutional valuation, trading, and risk-transfer workflows.

Our work connects event definitions, probabilistic forecasting, market data, index methodology, and execution infrastructure. We explore how prediction markets, actuarial models, insurance and reinsurance structures, and blockchain-based DeFi can contribute to a common language for uncertain outcomes. The challenge is to make risk legible across different horizons, exposures, and market participants, while keeping assumptions and limitations explicit.

Building this infrastructure requires more than a compelling forecast. Data must be traceable, events must have defensible resolution rules, methodologies must survive scrutiny, and products must account for liquidity, basis risk, operational resilience, and applicable legal constraints. We want institutions to be able to understand a risk price, challenge its construction, and assess how it relates to the exposure they actually hold.

We are building a focused team across research, engineering, markets, and risk. We value people who can move between deep specialist work and the practical decisions needed to build a company: identifying the important question, testing an approach, communicating the evidence, and carrying the result into a usable system.

About the role

Develop and manage institutional relationships, turning market opportunities and client needs into durable products, partnerships, and reliable coverage.

You will help connect a new category of risk information to real capital allocation decisions. The role requires understanding how institutions evaluate a methodology, what makes an instrument commercially useful, and where pricing signals can support a financing, hedging, or investment workflow.

You will own both partnership development and ongoing institutional coverage, working with research, product, legal, and operations colleagues to test feasibility and support client workflows. The role includes mapping counterparties, explaining proposed instruments, assessing economics, coordinating onboarding, and following through on inquiries and operational issues. You will distinguish potential demand from demonstrated adoption and represent available product capabilities accurately.

What you'll do

  • Build and manage relationships with funds, trading firms, exchanges, and market infrastructure partners, from initial engagement through ongoing coverage.
  • Identify opportunities across liquidity, structured products, and market access.
  • Lead commercial conversations from initial insight through execution.
  • Bring market feedback into product strategy and company priorities.
  • Develop proposals that connect index and term-structure capabilities to specific investment or risk-transfer use cases, documenting liquidity and basis-risk assumptions.
  • Maintain a qualified opportunity pipeline, evaluate commercial economics and implementation dependencies, and coordinate diligence and handoff with market, legal, and operational owners.
  • Coordinate product inquiries and onboarding, understand client exposures and pricing horizons, and work with relevant owners on execution and post-trade workflows where those services are available and approved.
  • Maintain accurate coverage records, communicate relevant market developments, and escalate pricing discrepancies, operational exceptions, or client concerns through agreed channels.

What we're looking for

  • Experience in capital markets, institutional sales, trading, or business development.
  • A strong understanding of market structure and institutional client needs.
  • Clear communication, sound judgment, and comfort with senior stakeholders.
  • An entrepreneurial approach and the ability to create structure from ambiguity.
  • Ability to assess liquidity, collateral, counterparty exposure, and commercial economics when evaluating a proposed market partnership or instrument.
  • Evidence of progressing institutional opportunities through diligence and negotiation, with accurate records and responsible representation of product capabilities.
  • Experience coordinating onboarding or resolving client-workflow issues; ability to explain methodology and operational constraints clearly and handle confidential client information carefully.

What success looks like

  • Build a qualified partnership pipeline linked to specific market-access, liquidity, or risk-transfer needs.
  • Develop proposals with transparent economics, material risks, and an agreed route through legal and operational review.
  • Progress suitable opportunities to a documented pilot or partnership and use the findings to inform product priorities.
  • Establish reliable client coverage and onboarding, resolve inquiries with accountable follow-through, and turn recurring needs into practical product or process improvements.

How we work

Time Seventeen is a focused, high-ownership team. We value clear thinking, direct communication, careful execution, and people who carry important work through to a result. We expect colleagues to surface inconvenient evidence, ask precise questions, and make the limits of their work explicit. Strong specialist judgment matters, as does the willingness to understand how your work affects research, markets, engineering, and risk. We prefer useful documentation and clear decisions to unnecessary process.
